 レッドウィングとナイジェリアケーボンのコラボマンソンブーツです。上野のフットモンキーで新品購入後何回か着用しました。カラーはHAWTHORNEです。内側はハリスツイードを使用し、オイルの含んだスウェード素材になっています。
サイズはUS8ワイズDです。

今回のレッド・ウィングとのコラボレーションのきっかけは、ナイジェル氏が第一次世界大戦当時の英国軍のビンテージコンバットブーツを見つけたことにはじまる。100年前のものとは思えない良好なコンディションで見つかったそのブーツはナイジェル・ケーボン氏の心をとらえ、今日の靴として再現したいという思いが彼のなかで強まったという。
そのブーツがもつ本来の美点を最大限活かした靴を現在作ることができるメーカーは、レッド・ウィングをおいてほかにはないと考え、これまでの互いのリスペクトとナイジェル氏の情熱が、初のコラボレーションを実現する原動力となった。
今回のマンソンブーツの第一の特徴は、1960年代後半を最後にレッド・ウィングでは姿を消していたマンソンラスト（木型）の復活だ。1912年、マンソン博士がワシントンの陸軍学校の軍隊衛生学の教授として就任していたとき、歩兵部隊用ブーツのために開発したラストがマンソンラスト。彼は4年の歳月をかけて、約二千人もの兵士の足を調べ、数千足の靴のフィッティングについて調査して、このラストを完成させた。その後、ミリタリーブーツのラストとして正式採用されつづけ、現在でも一部のミリタリーブーツに使用されている。
